The Brooks Family Knows How to Party

In my family we believe strongly in birthday celebrations! In honor of birthdays there shall be trips to St. Louis and fine dining experiences and laughter and joy and Polaroids and perhaps even an extra trip to Cape Girardeau. The Brooks family takes birthday fun seriously.

My mother has a birthday today. The celebrations started on Friday. I took a three day weekend by taking a vacation day from work. Cape Girardeau and an Irish pub restaurant, Katy O’Ferrell’s, was on the agenda for Friday afternoon. Antique store shopping also found its way into the birthday mix. A grand time was had by my parents and I. Fancy beer was enjoyed, delicious food also, and some treasures were discovered and brought home from the antique shops. Hoorah hooray!

Saturday, of course, was for a day trip to St. Louis. All four Brooks’ including brother, Aaron, were in for the fun. We dined at a wonderful Italian restaurant, Bella Milano, in O’Fallon. A little shopping was also accomplished. Then for the event of the evening, we journeyed to the famous Powell theater to enjoy the music of the great Aaron Neville. Mr. Neville wore a bright red fedora that I was slightly envious of. He and his piano man musician partner were highly entertaining. We four thoroughly enjoyed the show! I have my own fedora that I love, but I have never owned or worn a bright red one.

Yesterday, Sunday, was for resting. But today is the official birthday! Dad and brother Aaron took some excellent Polaroids earlier this evening off of Dad’s One Step 2 camera. The cake we had was worth living for. Mom has been happy with her birthday celebrations and so have the rest of us. Another excellent round of celebrations has once again been a huge success.

Happy birthday, Mom!
